March 20, 2009: The Congressional Budget Office reported a $1.85 trillion budget deficit and advised between 2010-2019 the government’s deficits will total $9.27 trillion, almost 2.3 trillion more than the Obama administration’s forecast.

March 2, 2009: The Dow Jones lost almost 300 points closing below 7,000 points for the first time since 1997.

February 27, 2009: The Dow Jones industrial average fell 119.5 points (1.66%), to another low of 7,062.93.

February 23, 2009: The Dow Jones industrial average tumbled another 251 points to its lowest close since Oct. 28, 1997.

February 20, 2009: The Dow tumbled down to its lowest level since October 9, 2002. The blue-chip index lost another 89.68 point or 1.2% and ended the week at 7,465.95.
